Gabon successfully won the host of the next edition of the African Cup of Nations 2017, after beating Algeria and Ghana who were also bidding for hosting right. Gabon were declared the host of the African Cup of Nations 2017 after a meeting and vote by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt.
Though it is the second time in history of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) were Gabon will stand as the host of the 16-team tournament after co-hosting with Equatorial Guinea in 2012, though they were denied to reach the semis after being defeated by Mali in a penalty shootout.
Venues to be used in the African Cup of Nations 2017 includes:
- Libreville
- Fraceville
- Port Gentil (Under construction, will be ready in two months from now)
- Oyem (Under construction, will be ready in two months from now)
