African Cup of Nations 2017 - Amid the political turmoil in Gabon, it is unsure whether the country will remain as host, or withdrawn from hosting the tournament in January 2017.
According to a reliable source, AfricanCupofNations.com gathered that the host Gabon could be withdrawn from hosting the tournament should the political violence persist. While far kicking into touch on the issue, Algeria was officially pronounced on 18 September on the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2017 in case of withdrawal of the host country. "In if official withdrawal from the competition by CAF (Confederation of African Football, ed) in Gabon, Algeria has pregnant able to host such major events, but we should first study the case with Government officials and the parties responsible for the management of Algerian football " , said Algerian Minister of Youth and Sports.

"If we get the green light of the high authorities of the country to host this great competition, we will begin the study of the preparations for this event, " added Hadi Ould Ali. Until the Caf will definitely leans on the issue at its annual meeting on 21 and 27 September, the spokesman of the confederation confirmed that Gabon as host of the Can 2017.
"The final tournament is scheduled from 14 January to 5 February, four cities: Libreville, Port-Gentil, Franceville, Oyem, " said media director of Caf to AFP , adding that the draw will be October 19, 2016 to Libreville as planned. "There is no change, we follow the situation in Gabon ... in the current situation, the timetable provided by the Caf is maintained, there is no need to worry. There is a draw on October 19 provided in Libreville, we're not there yet " , said Junior Binyam.
